about the artist
hello! i’m brooke (she/her/xe/xem) - a queer, disabled ceramic artist and potter currently based in hamilton, ontario.
always wanting to be in nature, i find myself constantly hiking and exploring new places. my love for nature runs deep, and i like to live life in eternally bare feet. this often inspires my work, as i feel more grounded to the earth and the art forms we can ethically and sustainably make from it. pottery is a very spiritual experience for me, and it’s about so much more than making ceramics. it’s not just shaping clay and pulling up the sides; it’s shaping me and learning how to pull myself back up. the process means everything to me and it’s when i’m most myself. coming out of that process with finished and functional pieces of art still blows my mind. being able to share those pieces with you in a way that financially supports this outlet for me is something i will forever be grateful for. i also love sharing how incredible and fragile the process of creating ceramics is, so feel free to check out my instagram or reach out to see what i’m up to!
here are a few more things that i hold close to my heart: my wife, reducing consumption and waste, indie/folk music, long drives, campfires, a good bowl of homemade soup, and getting my hands dirty in the veggie garden.
